Peavey Max 115 300 watt
Peavey Max 115 300 watt
I bought one of these brand new a couple of weeks ago. Another person on this forum mentioned he was getting a rattle in his Max 112 when he hit a "G" note. I'm getting the same rattle with an "E" note when I turn the volume up a bit louder than I would normally have it when playing at home. I went around and tightened up all the screws I could see and it didn't seem to help. The rattle is not the speaker. It appears to be coming from the amplifier area. I'll be calling customer support and will be reporting back here when I find a solution.
Re: Peavey Max 115 300 watt
OK. I contacted Grant Brown ([email protected]) with Peavey and he sent me the instructions (attached to this post) via email to repair the grill buzz issue with my amp. He's also sending me the foam tape to do the repair. I'll report back after I complete the repair.

Re: Peavey Max 115 300 watt
Well. My amp is totally different than the amp in the PDF file Peavey sent me, but I was still able to use the foam tape in the grill channel to kill the buzz I was getting. I did try to remove the grill from mine completely, but even after removing all the visible screws I was unable to get the grill out so I laid the foam tape in the channel as best as I could. Seems to have done the trick. If anything changes, I'll update here.

NHenry, thanks very much for posting this. I have the same issue, so did you keep the amp? Did the fix last?
Take care,

BillH62 - I know longer own the amp. Sold it because it's getting too difficult to load the beast in the back of my car. Went to a lighter option.
Re: Peavey Max 115 300 watt
nhenry, I have the Max 115 built in 2018. It has 5 white knobs on top. Sounds like it may be the kind you had. I bought it used and tried to remove the grill for cleaning. It also has a buzz when played at certain frequencies. I can't get the grill off after removing all the screws that make sense to remove. The bass sounds great when it's not buzzing. Anyone know how to remove the grill from these?
