Identifying amplifier-No model name anywhere
Identifying amplifier-No model name anywhere
Dear Peavey Forum users,
I am new here, just bought an amplifier from someone I know with no label and I am trying to identify it. It looks like Peavey, at least 40 years old (if speaker in it is original). It is not working at the moment, I am waiting for a tech to repair it (fuse is blown, but I'd rather wait for a check, before plug it in electricity). However, I tried to connect my other amp to the speaker and it sounds just lovely!
Could you please be so kind to tell me, which model it is.
I can't post pictures (it says "HTML error" when trying), so I'll describe it here.
It has around 30-35 kg,
Front side two inputs jacks HI and Lo and GAIN pot (white), then followed by pots: TREBLE, MIDDLE HI, MIDDLE LO, BASS (all white top, black body); "HARMONIC BOOSTER" pots (both black) "INTENSITY" and BAND (LO and HI), REVERB pots (blue top, black body) "DRIVE" and "INTENSITY", VOLUME pot (red top, black body) and red rectangle switch "0-1". That's all that's written on the faceplate, no model, nothing. Knobs are maybe not original, but if they are, those blue top pots could mean, it is a Peavey amp.
Inside: 15 inch speaker has written on it: "This Equipment Uses The Reliable Electro-Voice EVM SERIES II Speaker"
Back side it only says: ",COMBO' 100L", and a red rectangle switch for ON-OFF (0-1).
Thank you all in advance!

Re: Identifying amplifier-No model name anywhere
Sounds like you may have an old Peavey "Combo" amp. You might try asking the same questions on the Bass Amplifier section of this forum.
The more I learn the more I realize how much I don't know.

Re: Identifying amplifier-No model name anywhere
Welcome Prims!
I can't recall ever seeing a Peavey amp, with a red rectangular switch on the back panel.
Old Peaveys usually have large vertical aluminum trim pieces on the the speaker grill,
and say Peavey, and/or Made In USA, somewhere on it.

Re: Identifying amplifier-No model name anywhere
Hi all,
thank you very much for first directions.
I looked like hundreds of pictures on internet, Peavey looks closest with design.
If I identified the right speaker inside, it could be up to 5kHz, made from 1983 on and it could then be a bass guitar amp. It has strange metal-like (silver colour) instead of above dust cap, with 8/10 of an inch (2cm) hole in it. Never seen that before. Speaker grill was probably replaced, or at least no "Peavey" or anything else written or glued there... But anyway it sounds great, played through other guitar amp, isn't that strange if high frequency is limited to 5kHz?
I will try to search for marks on PCB, when it will be open. After all that I'll try also on "Bass amp" section, thanks for the advice.
Sorry for newbie question, is it possible to upload a picture her or pdf file? There is an option, but it says "HTML error" when I try...
Thank you all again, have a nice day everybody,
Prims

Haven't tried it, but there's an image icon on top of the message box. I requires an URL so you have to upload your images somewhere. Or there's the attachment tab at the bottom which should allow you to upload a PDF.
Re: Identifying amplifier-No model name anywhere
When you are looking around inside the chassis, look for some part numbers on pots and the transformer.
The more I learn the more I realize how much I don't know.
Re: Identifying amplifier-No model name anywhere
Hi, I will search inside for any marks and make take photos of everything...
I tried to upload pdf and jpeg here, it didn't work. I hope the following links work... The photos are unfortunately compressed, originals were clear, however, all text on the pictures is written in my first post.

Kind regards,
Primoz

I did see the images, and that is definitely not a Peavey amp, sorry I can't help you further.
Maybe there is a manufacturer ID inside

The ",COMBO' 100L" makes me think it's perhaps European made

After looking at your pictures, it doesn't look like any Peavey I've seen.

Definitely not a Peavey.
I second the idea to look inside. Good chance there is manufacturer information on the inside.

Hi guys,
thank you all for your help, at least now I know, it's not a Peavey
Well, if I find out which one it is, I'll post it here anyway.
Take care,
Prims
