Bandit Solo series 50W

Post by Kalle Muren » Tue Feb 04, 2025 7:37 am

Hi all,
Just bought myself a Peavey Bandit Solo series 50W with a Scorpion loudspeaker. What a nice amp !
Some questions. Could it be that it’s manufactured 1980 ?
And for the bigger question. How does the different controls interact with the two channels ? (Clean and dist)
I’ve figured out that the foot switch changes between the two channels and that the eq and Reverb are common for the two channels. But what about the rest. Some seems to be active on one channel but not the other. Can someone help me ? I’ve looked for a manual on line but I can’t find any.
Thanks ever so much from Kalle in Sweden

Go to Peavey's website; support-drop down to owners manuals; under archived manuals click on B and scroll down to Bandits.
The more I learn the more I realize how much I don't know.

Welcome Kalle!
It sounds like you have an early Bandit, they started out at 50 Watt.
Here's the Manual;

Great. Thank you so much. (Haven’t quite figured out yet how to get a real clean sound and a nice dist sound with the same volume since the two channels interact in different way than I’m use to on my more modern Silver stripe but I’ll figure it out some how. (Easier now that I have the manual 👍)

Nice amp! The Bandit’s Pre and Post gain mainly affect the distortion channel, while EQ and Reverb are shared. Enjoy your new gear!Chill Guy Clicker

I have a 1st Generation Special which is basically your amp with twice the output power. I find the owner's manual very useful in understanding interaction between the various controls. But something I rarely see mentioned is how much the controls on your guitar also affect the overall setup. I think that getting the Post Gain set for optimum for switching between Clean and Lead is the key, but also a compromise. I actually prefer the control set on this amp over the controls on my Silver Stripe Bandit. The Silver Stripe is more versatile and the tube tone is better, in my opinion, but I like the old solid state sound.
The more I learn the more I realize how much I don't know.
