Transtube supreme - low volume problem

Post by cbellamore » Thu Jan 30, 2025 2:03 pm

So i have an issue with my Transtube Supreme head

it had a few broken pots (plastic inside the pots were totally broken)

i was able to replace all of them that needed replacing

i put it all back together
and it worked just fine for about an hour

i did not touch it for about 2 or 3 days
and now the volume is low
and when i press the button to switch channels to the gain channel
sound still comes out but there is no change in sound as you move the post gain knob (which usually controls the volume on the lead channel on this amp)

any suggestions of where to start looking to diagnose the problem ?
but

Hmm, that's strange, on my Supreme Head (same as my Silver Stripe Bandit), the Post Gain knob controls the volume.
The Pre Gain knob only controls the amount of distortion/drive :?

Go back and recheck your work. Might be a solder joint that needs reflowed one more time or a small solder drop that is bridging something.
The more I learn the more I realize how much I don't know.
