Peavey VTM 60: Plexi tone?

Post by TVC » Wed Jan 22, 2025 10:14 am

Hi all,

New to the forum. I have a Peavey VTM 60. I bought it new in the late '80s. I started playing guitar again and would like to get a Marshall plexi/early Van Halen tone out of it. I have yet to use an attenuator to get the power tubes breaking up, but I suspect that would help. Are there any mods that would help?

Thanks,
Todd

I tend to run it with the first gain dip switch pushed up and not much else. After this I leave the about 1/3 of the way up and the presence pretty low. This gives me a great Marshall crunch but not super saturated. I use pedals for higher gain stuff.
