what is the best sounding 6l6 power tubes fo a peavey classic tube series 120 rms amp

Post by wirenut61 » Mon Jan 20, 2025 6:14 am

ive got a peavey dual two twelve classic tube series 120 watt amp and i would like to know what tubes would give a clean sound but heavy destortion. it has ruby 6l6 gcmstr tubes now with one blown but i just want to change all 4. the preamp tubes are fine and all do work. ive read that the letters after 6l6 has meanings of diffrent things but i just want the amp to be you know a punchy clean but heavy overdrives. i play a les paul mostly and a strat at times which is like the strat was made for it. but isent my choice of what i like playing. anybody on here make any since of what im having a hard time trying to explain here?

My answer would be the ones you like the most. I always liked the old Sylvania tubes.
The more I learn the more I realize how much I don't know.
