Help explain “TransTube” please

Would anyone here venture to explain how Transtube works in a non technical way? I’ve read Hartley’s Chapter 3 paper and still can’t make much sense of it.

I have a played a Vyper 30 for years now and it’s great. I am just curious about how its internals differ from traditional SS amps.

Vyper schematics show it was designed by “JTH”. Maybe he could shed some light on this.
