Valve King 112

Post by Strings » Fri Dec 06, 2024 1:57 am

Hello, I recently purchased and older VK112. I am wanting to connect an external Harley Benton 2x12 8ohm cabinet to it, yet the under the external speaker jack it says 16 ohm minimum.

Silly question, Am I stuck with connecting a 16 ohm external speaker or can I connect my 1x12 8 ohm cabinet to the VK112. Thanks

The schematic shows a 16R nominal impedance. Connecting an external speaker, the internal speaker is disconnected.
I don't think any harm will come from using an 8R external speaker. You may experience slight loss of bass at high volume but that won't harm the amplifier.
The most common way to harm a valve amplifier, is to operate them on high power with no loudspeaker at all. Don't ever do that!
