Turning off MSDI with Peavey Invective MH.

Post by ciwolsey » Fri May 17, 2024 7:19 am

Hey,

I have a Peavey Invective MH (20w) and I'd like to get just the preamp signal to my PC (without any of the MSDI stuff). Is this possible and if so how?

The XLR and USB output will have the MSDI emulation hardware filter on them. However, If you wanted the unaltered signal from the preamp then that is going to be at the send of the effects loop. You can capture that signal through a USB audio interface if you have one. That would be the only way to do it.

To get the unaltered signal without the MSDI on the USB would require modification of the amplifier internally and I'm sure it is not going to be a straightforward. Would likely require removing solder traces and then rerouting to the signal before the MSDI filter. Not easy if you don't know what you're doing.

I have an ASIO audio interface. So I can just go from the "Send out" and I'm not going to damage anything by not completing the effects loop back into the amp via the "Send in"? To be honest I find the USB output pretty useless since it has such a huge delay.

Nope, no risk of damage. There is that much latency on the USB? I have an older Valveking 100 MK2 with the USB. Didn't think there was that much latency.
