Hi folks. The title is basically it. I don't know much about what cable would be the right replacement, since the amp isn't made anymore. My brother and I both have this amp but he can't find his power cable. I have mine, so I'm wondering what a suitable replacement would be, since I can't find the exact cable I have anywhere.
Amp specs: 300W, 60Hz, 120 VAC.
Cable specs exactly as written on the cable itself:
(UL) E209524 SVT
VW-1 105°C
18AWGX3C PHINO
CSA 180414 SVT FT1 105°C 18AWGX3C C1
Thank you in advance.

18AWG is rated for 10A at 60°C (140°F). Most 3-wire cables with the right connector should work here. 300W of mains power (it is the mains power rating, not the RMS rating, right?) will take about 3A at U.S. voltages.
That's pretty much "if it fits, it fits" domain regarding separable power cords with 3 wires. 2-wire mains cables may partly be for weaker devices, but it would be unusual for 3-wire cables to be thinner than 18AWG (where "thinner" implies a larger AWG number).

Yes the 300W is mains not RMS. I am wondering though about what the cable itself says, since it says 105 degrees C.dak wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 3:47 pm18AWG is rated for 10A at 60°C (140°F). Can I ask how you know the information you've provided? I'd love to become more educated on the subject. Thank you.

Just check "AWG" on Wikipedia for cable specs. 105°C means that the cable will be fine up to that temperature: that seems like overkill for this amperage so I did not mention it. On the other hand, when the cable happens to run across the heat sink, you'd not want to have it melt due to heat from the outside.Zollotomasi wrote: ↑Thu Jun 08, 2023 11:19 amYes the 300W is mains not RMS. 300 Watts is likely what the amplifier converts into sound and fury, uh, sound and heat and more or less what you'll read on the power meter. Fuses and cables just bother about the amperage, and you get that by dividing those 300 Watts by the 120V of your outlets. If "Watts" really means "W" rather than "VA", you'd also need to bump the estimate somewhat to account for the "power factor", but that would get you nowhere near the 10A the cable is rated for.
Which gets us back to "if it fits, it fits".
