Last night I A/B’d my Bandit and my Marshall JMP 50. The Bandit really stood up to the Marshall! What an impressive little amp, and the Sheffield 1230 speaker sounds great!
I played the Marshall attenuated by a Tone King Ironman II through a 2x12 fitted with Celestion Heritage 55Hz G12H-30 speakers. The Bandit was on its own, modified as described in another thread, played through the built in Sheffield 1230. I love the midrange of the Bandit through the 1230, and the normal lead mode cleans up almost as well as the Marshall. The Marshall just has a little more sparkle, and a softer feel.
Overall, I love playing both. They are just two different, quality sounds, and two different rigs for different playing scenarios. The Bandit will definitely be my grab-and-go combo amp for the foreseeable future. I’m also now wondering if I should hunt down some 1230’s for my 2x12 cabinets.
