Just joined the forum. Glad to have a place to discuss Peavey Products and get some help with electronics issues.
I aquired a Classic VT Series 212 amp.
The amp was pretty crusty and needed a deep clean.
While testing it I noticed an issue with the Phase Controls.
Neither the color or rate had any effect on the sound.
After poking around I noticed that the 2 copper straps from the board to the rate pot. were twisted and broken in half.
Definately done on purpose. Also 2 out of 3 of the terminals were cut off on the Color pot.
I soldered the straps back together and the phase is now working. However with no color pot.
The color seems to be stuck on.
The Color pot has no effect as the 2 outside terminals were severed.
Does anyone know:
1. Why would someone cut the connections to the pots.
2. If leaving the Color pot. as it is can cause any damage.
I am thinking of replacing both pots, however I can't locate them online. Rate 71190061 Color 71190057
Thanks for any help.

Re: Classic vt phase disconnected
I doubt that you will find those exact pots any more. But the Rate pot is a 1 Meg with a switch (I think, the schematic is a little distorted it that area) and it is an logarithm type. the Color pot is 250K Linear.
Try pulling U13 and clean the legs and socket with contact cleaner then put it back in. It looks like an Opamp but it is a switch. It may get things working again. I would also spray those 2 pots with contact cleaner.

The more I learn the more I realize how much I don't know.
