5150 Combo Sudden loss of Volume

Post by 3rdof3 » Tue Nov 29, 2022 1:09 pm

Hello,

I've got a 5150 Combo that suddenly is only outputting the low end (bass) of the signal. Neither channel post volumes changes the level. No blown fuses. I hear it was attached to an attenuator recently, so I'm thinking that had something to do with it. I changed power tubes with no difference in volume or tone.

Any help is appreciated!

Will

Do the simple stuff 1st. Make sure the guitar isn't the problem and the speaker is good with good connections. Try a cable jumped across the Pre-amp Out and Power-amp In connections.

If you have access to another amp try jumping from faulty amp's Pre Out to known good amp's Power in and visa versa. that will help determine which part of the amp has a problem.
The more I learn the more I realize how much I don't know.
