Peavey Special 130 parts

Post by Jws1701 » Sun Nov 20, 2022 4:57 pm

I recently took my Special 130 to Sweetwater Sound in Ft Wayne for repair. They told me that they cannot get the transistors to repair my amplifier. Are there transistors available? If not, would it be possible to update/use modern day transistors?

I'm pretty sure you can find any transistor in that amp. Need to cross reference the numbers on some of them. Do you know which transistors that need replacing?

They might all need replaced. I have not had the time yet to pull it apart.

I’m just saying,
You know if a shop told me that, I wonder if they just don’t want to work on it. You’d think they want jobs they make money on and that work out for the customer being a reasonable fee. I wonder which transistors they think are bad. There are other parts that can fail. It’s not always a transistor. I'd like to agree with Pappy, that parts can be found or substituted.
