Peavey Artist Automix issue

Post by Axtman » Sat Nov 19, 2022 8:01 pm

I recently bought an old used Peavey Artist VT series amplifier. Everything checks out on the amp. The Bright channel works and does not have distortion. The Normal channel works and does not have distortion. But I get distortion when plugging into the Automix input. When I am plugged into the Automix input the Bright channel volume control makes the amp more distorted. Any ideas on what could be causing this issue? Thanks.

It may be operating as it is designed to. Do you have the footswitch? In automix without the foot switch you can use the Volume knobs of both channels and do some mixing but the Bright channel is driving the Normal channel. It takes reading the manual and some experimentation to get the hang of it.

If you just got this amp using Some contact cleaner (Deoxit or similar brand) on all the jacks and pots may improve the quality of the signal.
The more I learn the more I realize how much I don't know.
