Hello & Help -
Recently bought a used Classic 50 410 and it already sounds like a winner. I'm an archtop roots music stylist and it's becoming a dry desert in terms finding of usable amps on the market. I have quite a bit of confusion over the controls, switches, etc. The Lead/Normal toggle on the panel, how that is affected by the foot switch, whether or not the "bright/normal" inputs are separate channels, etc.
Would appreciate some direction

Does this help? https://assets.peavey.com/literature/ma ... 301444.pdf
The more I learn the more I realize how much I don't know.

Re: Classic 50 410
Have the same issue with an Artist VT amp I picked up
Re: Classic 50 410
Pappy B - many thanks.
Bought the amp used (obviously) and very much appreciated the manual. It definitely helps with making sense of things. The panel is actually facing backwards on my amp, so the controls are upside down when looking from the front. Kind of odd but not unusable. BTW - the SN dates it to 1995. It's in surprisingly good condition, cosmetically and electronically. Actually gigging with it today at a winery in Tehachapi

The backwards control panel emulates the days of musicians setting behind there amps instead of standing in front of them. Sometimes you will see pictures or videos of guys setting directly behind the amp in recording studios where there isn't much space.

Re: Classic 50 410
I heard from an amp repair guy that Peavey didn't think that through when they went from the separate head/cabinet configuration to the combo format. They just dropped in the front face, control panel, etc., leaving things upside down. It odd for me but doesn't make the amp unusable.
Re: Classic 50 410
Any vintage Fender Tweed or contemporary reissue (even a Blues Junior dressed in Tweed) got the control panel facing backwards. (The player was supposed to stand behind the cab, not to block the speaker.) These days it's purely cosmetic, a nod to good old days. For the sake of practical use, it really doesn't matter at all.
My 2002 Classic 50 (incl. FX-loop) got the control panel facing in the opposite direction (readable when standing in front of the speaker). So, it seems that it was just the first versions made in the 90s that got the vintage upside-down look of the control panel.
Anyway I got another question for the forum;
My Classic 50 got a voltage selector switch having two positions; either "240V" or "220-230V".
I find this very odd and confusing given the debate of how mains electricity standards are evolving.
I assume this setting will affect tube-bias, but I'm not sure in what way or how it would affect tone.
-Would it be safe for me to toggle the switch to find out for myself? (I got 230V from the wall)

Anyone know if amps made in 1995 we're loaded with Blue Marvel speakers?
