Need Help Identifying Cabinet

Post by hyperxfocused » Wed Jul 27, 2022 1:50 pm

So I just picked up a Peavy 6505+ and 4x12 cabinet on OfferUp last week. The seller had told me they had boughten them as a set from guitar center back in the early 2010’s and didn’t really have any more information on the cabinet other than that it had the same signature badge on the bottom right corner of the cab that is also on the 6505+ head (what is this signature by the way? Photo will be posted)

It is missing a peavy badge on the front of a cab and any sticker with ohm/watt information is gone or was never there; all I have to base it on is its visual distinctions. The speaker inputs location/style on the back doesn’t seem to match a 6505 cabinet from what I could research online and more so seems to resemble a valveking 4x12. But from what I can find online they had a different grill color and don’t have said signature badge on them (opposite side of where the valve king badge would be too)

I know the simple thing would be to open up the cab and look at the speakers to get a better idea of what it is, but the cab is being stored at a friends that I can’t get to for a few weeks and I’m rather impatient so thought I’d ask here for any input. Any information is helpful and I hope someone is able to share some knowledge about this. Thanks in advance!!

Cosmetically, it looks like an HP 412 cabinet. Probably was just a sticker on it. It should be 16 ohms, 200 Watts continuous power handling, unless speakers, or configuration, have been changed. That is Hartley Peavey's signature on the metal badge.

Not as expensive as a 6505, but once broken in the Supreme XL speakers in it sound okay. They are not too far off Sheffield specifications. Peavey also used those speakers in the Windsor and Supreme XL cabinets.

Thank you for the response and that is exactly what it is! Took a peek inside and saw the Supreme XL speakers. Got to use the cabinet yesterday and like you said; when the speakers are broken in (which these ones have been) they aren’t terrible but being played next to my Marshall ORI412 cab with four Celestion G12E-60 speakers in it, there was a pretty noticeable difference in quality.

Regardless glad to have this mystery solved; thanks again!!
