Rage And Blazer III TDA2040 Substitute?
Rage And Blazer III TDA2040 Substitute?
Hi all....Since there seem to be lots of fake TDA2040s out there, can I use the LM1875 without having to change anything in the power amp? Also is there any loss of power using this chip amp as it seems rated for 8 ohms? Thank you.

I would check Mouser, Digi-Key or Jameco. They are all reputable suppliers and should have a recommended substitute. You will pay a little more than eBay, Amazon, etc., but again all reputable suppliers. Actually, you are likely safe using anything in Roger's Need Parts? topic. I did take a look at the datasheets and the LM1875 will handle higher supply voltages than the TDA2040, and also produce ~25W with +/-25V supplies. Other than that it looks like a drop in to me.

Yes, you can use the LM1875.
And I just checked yesterday, Jameco has 369 TDA2030 in stock, made by ST.
