Special 112 Troubleshoot

Post by emmons » Fri Nov 26, 2021 2:03 pm

Hi I was hoping to get some help trouble shooting my early 90s Peavey special 112. I have a issue where ill be playing the amp, it will be sounding great, and then the volume will drop to a very weak distorted signal. I can fix the problem by jacking up the volume, and hitting the strings hard. It comes back on so loud I have to un hook the speaker to do this. It will work for a while, but issue returns. I've tried cleaning all the jacks, and pots several times. Could this be the output transformer, a transistor, or capacitor issue. Thanks for your help.

Got FX loop or insert jacks? Patch across them with a spare cord. ANy change?
