Peavey audition 30 input problem

Post by PMpeavey » Wed Sep 29, 2021 2:04 am

Hi, just registered and this will be 1st attempt at posting a question on this forum. I have an old Peavey Audition 30 Amp that has has been a great little reliable amp for several years. Just recently I lost all function of the #1 (high gain) input. No sound, not even a hum or static noise. #2 Low Gain input still functions perfectly with all controls. Before I bust it open, thought I'd see if anyone could give me a trouble shooting plan on what to look for and sequence. Obviously hoping for a simple 1/4' jack or connection problem and not a circuitry issue but? ANY suggestions would be greatly Appreciated! Thanks, PM

I would look at the jack. I would also use contact spray (Deoxit or similar) on the contact points. Look for bad/broken solder joints on the jack and attached wires. Make sure the nut holding the jack in place is not loose.
The more I learn the more I realize how much I don't know.
