6505+ 112 vs 6505 MH help

Post by Jenifer01 » Tue Aug 03, 2021 2:49 am

I need help deciding which setup I should go for. I am in the market for a new amp and am considering either a 6505+ 112 combo or 6505 MH. Both can be had for relatively cheap on the used market. The intended use if for home and band practice. I play in a cover band (with drums) on the weekends where we play small bar gigs and such, a few times a month. I'd like the combo for simplicity and also price (negates needing a new cab) but from what I have heard the speaker in the combo is pretty bad. The MH seems nice with the ability to drop down to 5 and 1 watts for quieter playing. So would you buy a MH and cab (been looking at a Harley Benton 2x12 loaded with celestion v30s) right away or go with a 112 combo for a do all amp? A used 112 combo would run me locally around $450 where as the MH ($300 used locally) and new cab (around $280 for the HB) would run around $580. My concern with the MH is that I might outgrow it being only a 20w head. All input is appreciated!

If I played gigs, I'd go with the 6505+112. You can always replace the speaker if you don't like the stock one.
