5150 Peavey Head only works when a 1/4 jack inserted in footswitch input

Post by ampsandharleys » Wed Jul 07, 2021 7:14 pm

I've got a peavey 5150 that I've managed to get working great.....new problem arose.

The amp will only produce sound (Lead and Rhythm channel) if I insert a 1/4 guitar chord jack into the input of the FOOTSWITCH 1/4" Input.

Amp works flawlessly sans that problem.....I changed the input jack (the plastic one) thinking it was a problem with the input?

Anyone have any ideas as to what is causing this strange occurrence??

Thanks,
Eddie Han Valen

Plug a spare cord from FX send to FX return. ANy help? MY suspect is that the FX loop is turned off by your plugging into the FS jack. That bypasses the jacks. Normally the FX loop is always on, and if the jacks are funny, you lose signal.

Thanks Enzo, I swapped out one of the jacks, no go. Then I remembered when doing some cleaning I replaced the ribbon cable on that mini pcb upside down.

Works now!

Thanks Enzo
