Hi all, I’m currently repairing the above amp, and I’m told that the chorus function should be off when the footswitch is disconnected, but it seems to me that if that’s the case, how could you use the Chorus function without the footswitch.
The amp I’m working on is Chorus works with the footswitch disconnected.
Hope someone can clarify this for me.

Re: Peavey Stereo Chorus 212
AFAIK, the footswitch activates a relay in the amp, that turns on the chorus, meaning the relay has to be energized, to get chorus in the signal chain.
If your's is permanently on, maybe either the relay is stuck closed, or it's been hot wired.

Looking at the owners manual for 2 different stereo chorus 212 amps and they both say the foot switch is used to select channels and "defeat" effects.
Sounds like, to me, that you don't need the foot switch to use the effects.

The more I learn the more I realize how much I don't know.

Maybe the reverb and chorus are always on by default then, IDK.
but you would still need a footswitch to activate the relay to turn them off.
FWIW, I had the pre-teal version (No Body), but always used it with the FT SW, so I wouldn't know otherwise.

ea I had one back in the early 90's bought new and gigged with it steady for ten years never gave me a bit of problems except the foot switch I was constantly repairing the plug and rewireing it after a few years of use. Price I would say two hundred to two fifty maybe. I would not pay any more than that. Good amps. They made a couple different versions one with just Chorus and a more expensive one that had chorus and delay ect that had a fancy foot switch with LED's that one might bring a few more bucks.
Re: Peavey Stereo Chorus 212
I just talked a store that said in the add local pickup only, into shipping it to me. A 1992 master nob having 2 new emenice 128 speakers i think.

Would you like a circuit diagram for the foot switch?

Re: Peavey Stereo Chorus 212
I still have this amp. I haven’t used it in years. I know when I bought it the foot switch came with the amp, it wasn’t optional. So it could be that it was always meant to operate with the foot switch.
I never had an issue with my foot switch, but have heard others who had problems with their foot switch.
I always liked that amp and still do. Maybe I should get it out again….
