Peavey Classic 50 4X10 speakers

Post by VanR » Tue Dec 17, 2019 8:50 pm

I have 2 10" speakers that were originally from a Classic 50 4X10 combo. I know they are Eminence and 16 ohms. Does anyone know what the power rating of these speakers is? I have them in a homemade 2X10 cabinet now and would like to use them with a 50 watt head.

The Peavey Classic 410E cabinets were rated at 400 watts. So 100 watts per speaker. I wonder if these were the same speakers that are in the 410Es? At any rate I guess I need to get in the cabinet and write down the pertinent info and email Anthony at Eminence. He has helped me in the past to identify OEM speakers that Eminence produced.

My mid-90's C50 410 has the Blue Marvel-Classic-1020-MI. The 1020 is rated 240 W Peak, 120 W Program, 60 W Continuous. Even if yours pre-date the 1020, I would still expect them to be rated the same. The 1020 was used in the Classic 20, C50 410 and Ultra 410.

Where do you find the 1020 number at? I do see 10498 on the sticker on mine.

I have emailed Eminence. Maybe they will have some info.

My 10"s have no Blue Marvel labels at all.

So Anthony at Eminence says that while they do not rate speakers made for other companies he believes a conservative rating of 50 watts is appropriate for the 1.5 inch voice coils. So I'm good with 2 for a 50 watt head. Good news.

So I was looking at service notes and pics on my PC instead of going down in the basement and looking at my C50 410. It turns out the notes were for a friend's C50 410 and not mine.

I looked at mine tonight and like yours, it does not have the Blue Marvel labels. Between the labels and https://peavey.com/support/spkrcomponen ... _comps.pdf we had inferred what my friend's C50 410 was loaded with. My C50 410 and C20's have the same "stickerless" 70777113 16 Ohm markings as yours.

I’m curious. I have a 410E Cab and need to replace all 4 speakers, but that is the question I have on the watt ratings for continuous operating. Everything I can find is rated for 60W new or used ones at 75W - I play from a Classic 100 head so I want to make sure what I put in for speakers will match the same tone and be able to meet the original Peavey specs for the 410E. Im a little lost on this. The original speakers are blank no label speakers with the 70777113 16ohm text.
