QF 231 Equalizer

Post by bcook1014 » Sun Jan 12, 2025 12:53 pm

I'm new here and don't know much about Peavey equipment, last week I purchased a used QF 231, 31 band equalizer, but it came with no connecting cables, now I'm searching for cables to connect it to my Yamaha receiver/amp, any suggestions on where I might find them used preferably or new?

Try Sweetwater.
You probably need 1/4” to RCA patch cables. Hosa is good for those.

Peavey stuff I have: Masterpiece 50, Custom Shop 212, Stereo Chorus 212, T-60, T-40, Signature Select, Odyssey II Prototype, Generation Custom EXP, Firenza P90-ACM, VB-2, Stomp Boxes, Radial Pro 1000, lots of mics, etc...

If that Yamaha is a home stereo receiver/amp, then I agree with studiodtk5 that RCA to 1/4" patch cables are most likely what you need. To know for sure, can you tell us what model your Yamaha receiver is?

Sorry for the delayed response, the Yamaha is an RX-V683 AV receiver. Thanks.

Here's the kicker, I don't have a clue as to what those cable and connectors are that you're referring to.

I looked up that receiver, and there's really not a way to hook it up, as it's not needed since it has all the EQ processing built-in. At best, if you have some auxiliary speakers going somewhere else other than the standard 5.1 / 7.1 surround speakers setup for the room, sending the aux to some other room for plain stereo listening, then you could connect the EQ from the receiver's Zone 2 output jacks (those are RCA jacks you see there) to the 1/4" input jacks on the Peavey EQ, then the 1/4" output jacks of the EQ to either a pair of powered speakers or an amplifier to drive unpowered speakers.

An example of RCA to 1/4" cables would be these (they are 6.6f ft. long but you can find shorter or longer most anywhere)

But again, there's really no use for an external EQ with the receiver you have, as it's not designed to have one. Older stereo systems back in the 70s, 80s, 90s, had dedicated in/out jacks to loop in an external EQ. Once home stereo receivers got into surround sound setups, external processing devices went the way of the Dodo bird.
