Re: VALVEKING TIPS TRICKS AND MODS
Any cord will do. In my VK this doesn't seem to make any difference. If you're not getting enough out of the OD channel, you relly need to retube V-2 & V-3. I did this on my VK 212 and the difference is day & night. Currently using a NOS Phillips 12AX7 in V-2 and a Sovtek LPS in V-3. I have more gai...

Re: VALVEKING TIPS TRICKS AND MODS
I always use the loop as well, but cant say I noticed any difference when I didnt. I'll have to check again. The main thing I find about my VK's is that each guitar requires a slightly different amp tweak to get the maximum tone for it. These are the most tuneable amps I have ever used. Almost to th...

Got to love that Peavey gear. Loves the abuse and still delivers. Bang away! Machines need to know who's boss!

Re: What's the best deal you ever got on gear?
I got paid $100 to own my C-30! I bought a used Gibson LP Smartwood and the C-30 for $700, sold the guitar the next week for $800. I still have the C-30, though it looks a little different now. My VK 212 was a pretty good buy at $225, also. $225 is what I paid for a 1963 strat in the mid '70's. That...

Re: Classic 30 Tube Replacements
Genuine Mullard CV-4004 in V-1, Reissue Mullard 12AX7 is a good second choice if budget is tight. I found the tung sol a tad agressive for the C-30, but you might like it. Sovtek 12AX7 LPS in V-2 & V-3. Works for me and blows most other amps out of the water. Currently using Mullared EL-84 re-issues...

Re: Peavey Valveking 100: The Squeal
These are the type of complaints I read about VK's all the time. Squeals when turned up to 10? Not very surprised to hear that. So will any powerful amp, even solid state. Youth and hearing; both wasted on the young. Check your pre amp tubes and turn it down a tad. Should help.

Re: ValveKing Head LED Mod (pics)
Very Cool. Reminds me of college when I had a black light and a bunch of planets and stars painted on the ceiling with da-glo paint. Does it do the da-glo thing? LOL, just kidding. Looks very cool.

Re: Peavey ValveKing 212 Issues
If you've swapped all the tubes with ones you know are good then you have done everything you can do yourself. Make sure the reverb plugs are snug, your cord is good. Then take it to someone who can fix it.

Re: Peavey ValveKing 212 Issues
Sounds like a tube issue. Swap out each one till you find the offender. Some tubes make a lot of noise. Cincy, the VK 212 is a different tube consuming animal than other Peavey amps, including the 112. The usual tube solutions dont sound very good in this amp, IMHO. I ended up with a NOS CV4004 Mull...

Re: Which Peavey Amp do you have
Classic 30 with a Greenback in it & 112-E, Bravo with custom ext cab w/ Governor and Hellatone 30, Valve King 112, Valve king 212, Basic 112, TNT 160, Danelectro Nifty Fifty. A lot of custom cabs, I like NOS tubes. Too many amps for now, but not a lot of $ tied up. That's part of the beauty of Peave...
