Re: Liquid Death

If any of the fuses blew, that might be a good thing to prevent any component damage. I’d like to think the damage is minimal and the repair cost would be less than $100 with a fast turnaround. Although I’m not in the repair business where other factors might push the cost up such as employee time a...

Re: Peavey 6505+ 112 repair discovery

Yes R14 is in the -bias supply. I would select the 220k as R14, just as Peavey made it. I believe these amps are purposely set to a colder bias. Anyone using these amps are probably using heavy overdrive, more like a square wave, not a sign wave, would be hitting the Pwr tubes. All the pwr in a squa...

Re: Peavey Blues Classic Red Plating

When you say rails, you mean the traces on the PC board? Correct me if I'm wrong. If your PC bd is damaged, like burnt or carbonized, that can become conductive between the traces. That has to be cut-out, like with a knife, or maybe a drill. The electrical traces on a PC bd have to be electrically i...

Re: deuce 240T mains transformer colour codes

Have you got the secondary windings all figured out and drawn out? If it has a center tap winding or not. I would think whatever version or schematic exists, the basic circuitry of the model -Peavey Deuce must be similar. Like how many total secondary windings there are. I'm surprised the transforme...

Thats great. I can't belive your going to rewind it.
That would be interesting to take it apart and rewire it.
I hope it works out. I'm sure a Nashville 1000 is a great amp.

Re: Need help with a Nashville 1000

smps - switched mode power supply In general,,, when I was a bench technician, unfortunately when these blow up they usually take out the hf drive transistors (in your case the mosfets). Isn’t it usually the filter caps in the secondary side of the transformer? They may test good, but something is b...

Re: Vypyr 30 Combo (~2009): master volume / phones output problems

I don't think the absolute value of the pot matters although 18K ohms is a bit off in value, so it might matter. Also I don't think the Vol control is like an encoder. People have tried to clean the encoders. Maybe if you try to clean the original vol pot it would help, if the new pot doesn't fit. h...

Re: Peavy 5150 acting wierd. (Burns Fuse, glowing tube, R210 was smoking)

Please do not do this kind of work until you're educated about electronics. The forum is not suppose to repair amps online. The amp is not acting weird. It's a classic tube short which should take you a short time to diagnosis. A fuse in the primary blows when there is too much current demand in the...

Check the 2/35 caps. That is 2ufd at 35Vdc. A forum member mentioned they could be high failure items.

Re: Special 130 sounds "dirty"

Thanks Russ for the effort. Yes Q14 needs to be replaced. Also replace Q13 at the same time considering the effort vs cost of a 2N3904. I'm not sure what effect that will have, hopefully positive. Its like they control the whole amp, so that part needs to work right. Both the positive and negative s...

Re: Peavey Ultra plus 120 power tubes not coming on

I can't find R301,302, i'll look for them. The schematic I'm looking at has R93,94 each 100 ohm on the filaments to create an AC center grnd. Maybe were looking at different schematics, it happens. Fantastic that you found some other diodes bad too. You'll get it fixed. I think when you get that new...

I’m just saying, You know if a shop told me that, I wonder if they just don’t want to work on it. You’d think they want jobs they make money on and that work out for the customer being a reasonable fee. I wonder which transistors they think are bad. There are other parts that can fail. It’s not alwa...

Re: Peavey Ultra plus 120 power tubes not coming on

Hi jatspic, it’s a good thing you ordered another fuse.
The best way to measure a fuse is to take it out of the circuit and measure ohms thru it on the bench.
If possible try to measure the 6.3 vac at any 6l6 tube from pins 2 to 7 with your dvm?

Re: Special 130 sounds "dirty"

Pay attention to the dc voltages written on the schematic in the power amp. imo These are quiescent no-signal condition dc voltages. Don’t be turning any knobs for measurements. Keep the volume at zero. Focus on dc voltage, what you measure vs the schematic values. Your measurements of Q13, Q14 look...
