Peavey renown solo series, One owner
I bought my Peavey renown solo new in the mid 80's. This is a well built amp, the cab is built to take on the road, it is heavy though. This amp is loud, I replaced stock scorpion speakers (I have blown two sets) with inexpensive Celestion 70/80 speakers. Sounds good enough for me. After over 35 yea...

Peavey renown just loud noise (1984 or 1985)
The amp was blowing the main fuse, I replaced one of the output transistors (MJ15001) and the amp worked fine for several weeks.
I went in the other day and just turned on the amp, now I just get a loud noise, the fuse does not blow, Any ideas...vic

Enzo, you were right, several of the output transistors were shorted out. thanks again...Vic

Thanks for the input. The amp was working fine, sounded great then nothing. I need to get a schematic and locate the transistors.

I removed the main board checked the fuse, it was blown. Looked for bulging caps and burnt resisters, all looked good. Attached speakers, put in a 3 amp fuse. Switch on, front led came on, heard a loud sound in speakers, blew fuse. I put in a 5 amp fuse, switch on, then load sound in speaker, switch...
