Little coloration as possible?
So, cold hearted and referent, adding nothing?

CM2 capsule size
Is the CM2 a large capsule condenser microphone?
The CM1 is apparently a medium capsule.
Does anyone have anything to say about either one?
Who's using them, and for what?
Thanks.

5A1M potentiometer for Blazer 158
Someone gave me a Blazer 158 guitar amp. I was able to fix all its problems, except for one wide open pot controlling the clean volume. It plays maximum volume, no matter how it's set. The only marking on the pot is "5A1M." How would I go about getting a new pot, or at least finding out the resistan...

Blue Marvel for a Microbass?
I took a risk on a pretty rough looking pawn shop Micro bass last week. Today I got around to cleaning it up, spraying cleaner down the pots and jacks, touching up the paint, etc. She cleaned up pretty well. The main problem was that mud had been splashed on the speaker. I got that off, very careful...

I just ordered a RAC1.
So I guess I'll find out for myself.

Re: One of our Shure "in ears" fell in a toilet before the first service Sunday morning
I once bought an expensive guitar amp at a pawnshop for $30--because it screeched and howled when plugged in. I took it home, removed the super-dirty main board, and put it in the sink. Warm water, dish detergent, and light scrubbing with a toothbrush. Then rinsing. Then blowing the water out of the...

Re: RAC1 & RAB1 large ribbon microphones
Dunno why the MXL's sensitivity is so low. It requires too much amplification, and the background noise comes in as hiss. Maybe it's defective, or was damaged by a previous owner. Or it isn't a good mike, period. But I don't want to risk too much on another ribbon mike, if they're all like that Yes,...

Re: RAC1 & RAB1 large ribbon microphones
Dan0369, Thanks for the reply. My interest in ribbon microphones is word of mouth, hearing that they pick up the "warmth" of the upper strings. I'm an amateur cellist, among other instruments. I recently purchased an expensive (for me) violin. But I don't know from ribbon mikes. Condenser and dynami...

RAC1 & RAB1 large ribbon microphones
I'm interested in a ribbon microphone to record strings (violin, viola, cello, string bass). I have an MXL microphone from a pawn shop, but it's not sensitive enough. Too faint. And I can't afford the kind of pre-amp that would boost the sound without adding too much hiss. I like Peavey condenser an...
