Re: Need help fixing VIP 2 power amp

There is a schematic available for this amp. My free advice would be to verify the voltages before replacing the power transistor. Also, make sure you clean the heat sink surface and apply new heat sink pasted when you replace the power transistor. Good luck and let us know how it went.

MIDI control

Is it feasible to control two VYPYR amps with a single sanpera II controller? Assuming I could make a simple Y cable adapter what might I expect? I would really like to use 2 vypyr amps for gigs. I have done the external speaker mod to drive a 2x12 ported cab but would prefer two combos for more vo...

Re: Vypyr X1 reviews

I have both VYPR and VIP guitar amps. For a beginner I'd recommend a used VYPYR which can be found on facebook or craigslist for $100 or less. FWIW, I've used my VYPYR 30 and 75 for club gigs for many years now and they do the job very well. I'm sure the X series are cool but the bells and whistles...

I'd look at bent pins on the MIDI cable. I assume you're using the correct 8 pin cable.

Re: Peavey VYPYR 2 instrument channels presets

The easiest solution might be to invest in a sanpera pedal making the button superflous. Sanpera II pedals can be pricey but a used Sanpera I can be had fairly inexpensively.
For me, I would never try to gig w/o my Sanpera II.

Re: Vypyr 3 case corners (plastic feet)

I used my VIP 2 for a couple months as a gigging amp (connected to a 2x12 cab). A couple of trips in the equipment trailer and the corners disintegrated. I replaced all of them with metal corners.

Re: Boss Katana anyone?

I've been using and gigging with VYPYR 30 and 75 amps for 7 years. I also have the VIP 2 for mostly home use. I loaned the VIP 2 to my nephew while I was thinking about a Katana. SO MANY youtube demos and [glowing/paid] reviews I thought I should move to the Katana thinking new technology = better t...

Let's be clear, there is s difference between VIP3 and vypyr3 ... different firmware for sure. PM roger to get the exact version for your amp.

Re: Is The Vypyr Vip 3 good for jamming with loud metal drummer?

From a tone perspective, no problem. Generally plenty loud. But to play with a metal drummer and bassist you need, IMHO, more thump than a 1x12 can deliver. For less than a full metal experience, a stock VIP3 is fine. For a fuller experience, I would add an external speaker mod to drive a 4x12 cabin...

Re: Peavey vip 1

Select the XXX amp then press the amp knob once or twice. If you don't get any distortion either your amp or your guitar is defective. In fact pushing the map knob on just about any amp model should give you plenty of distortion

Re: Need to reverse a 6505+ 112 head conversion

It really would not be that hard to build a combo cab. If you don't have the tools/skills/space to build it yourself, it should be easy to find someone who does. Probably cheaper than a Peavey replacement. Plus gives you the opportunity to cover it w/ a color of your choice Having said that, I did m...

Re: VIP Change Speaker/Cabinet Voicing

I didn't find too much of an issue with the voicing on my VIP but I did add some low end on my live setup.

What he said! I find that putting the pressure on the "toe" vs the heel of the pedal helps also.

Re: Using the presets to accommodate different guitars?

This is not only practical but absolutely necessary. The higher output of the humbucker guitars really changes how a preset sounds in volume and distortion vs the strat. I have bank 1 set for my strat with various amp and pedal configurations and bank 2 set up for my LP and 335.
