Re: What year was this CS 800 manufactured?

The 85A in the serial number means it was manufactured in January 1985. This manual was printed in 1984 so I'd "guess" yours is the same. https://assets.peavey.com/literature/manuals/80300068.pdf I had a couple and yes, they did sound great. I had one on a pair of Magneplanar speakers for some time....

Re: 118D double voice coil replacement subwoofer

First there is 2 amps in the 118D sub so "Don't" connect those 4 wires into a woofer that only has 2 inputs! That would be a great way to ruin the 2 amps in it. Give Peavey parts department a call and see what they have. You are looking at a dual Voice Coil speaker that is designed to have 2 power a...

Re: CS800S no sound DDT maybe?

Not sure if it is in the manual but look for "Tempsister or Thermistor". On the output board they look like a wire with clear speaker wire cover over them sort of in a loop. If the fans are on high speed when you turn the amp on this very well could be a sign they have cracked. Everyone I've repaire...

Re: Help IDing vintage 215

With no photo or link to an add with your 215 in it what you have would be impossible to say. Could you include an image of the box or a link to an add you mentioned?

Re: cs-800x quasi-balanced clarification

With the CS800X and older ones the XLR input is Pin1 Ground, Pin 2 Negative and Pin 3 Positive. The standard today (for the most part) is Pin 1 ground, Pin 2 Positive and Pin 3 ground. You can use the XLR in so long as you make a cable that puts Pin 2 coming from a device to go into Pin 3 at the CS8...

Re: So-4ti

Should the woofers still not work going straight into the Bi-Amp Low jack, which again is a straight shot into the woofers, it is possible both woofers are blown and need to be replaced.

Re: So-4ti

I'm guessing you mean SP 4ti? The Sp4ti has full range inputs and Bi-amp High and Bi-amp Low jacks. The Bi-amp High and Low are switching jacks. When a person plugs into these, they bypass the crossover in the box and go straight into the driver in the box. Bi amp low goes straight to the woofer. So...

I've been on here for years. I just tried to see if I can post one and I can't. There must be something wrong with the server.

Re: Set up?

The EX1000's that I remember had both 1/4 and speakon inputs. They had 2–15-inch woofers and a horn. Much like a Peavey SP4 and were a 4-ohm load. Does this sound like yours? "Which CS800" amps do you have? The CS800 has been out for many, many years and have changed through the years as well. The ol...

Re: Small PA system setup for band help

A few friends and I starting playing again on a regular basis just for fun. So I dusted of my old pa equipment. Peavy MD3 mixer Amp Sonetic Labs SA650 (same as a QSC USA1300) for FH1 speakers Amp Crown CTs 600 for SP3 speakers DOD 835 crossover. 2 Peavey SP3 speakers (8 ohm,150 continuous/300 progr...

Re: Hisys 2 Internal Crossover - Ohm Rating Help

I don't think this is correct. When you put an ohm meter on a passive crossover with no speakers connected what do you get? Doug Typically an infinite resistance. The same that you would get with a wooden block. That doesn't mean that a wooden block works as a frequency crossover. And if you put an...

Re: Hisys 2 Internal Crossover - Ohm Rating Help

A passive crossover doesn't have an Ohm rating by itself. I don't think this is correct. As the most simple example, see a 6dB/oct crossover. Assuming equal impedances R of tweeter and woofer, the transition frequencies are 1/(2 pi RC) for the tweeter and R/(2 pi L) for the woofer. If you lower R, ...

Re: Hisys 2 Internal Crossover - Ohm Rating Help

A passive crossover doesn't have an Ohm rating by itself. The crossover point will vary depending on the Ohm rating of the speaker that is connected to the crossover. One driver may see a 1000hz crossover point using this crossover and another one might see a 500hz crossover point. Depends on the im...
