Re: IC chip replacement
I like the amp to be clean, and add noisemakers as needed. Most of my Peaveys I have swapped out the chips for OPA2134A, lower noise floor, (and to my ears), a sweeter tone. I don't change the reverb IC, as I feel the 4558/4560 gives more-----verb!

Re: Changing Speakers in a Bandit 112
I picked up a "Blue Stripe" chassis a while back, installed it in a Special 150 cab, with a Blue Marvel speaker I had. I liked the sound!
I used the amp to let a fellow demo a Tele guitar I was selling, and he wouldn't leave until I sold him both!

I had a Silver Stripe that had a destroyed cab. Since it had belonged to my (now deceased) nephew. I tried to do something a little different:

WTB Peavey Heatsink
I know this might be a long shot........
I have a Special 150 chassis that I got in pieces, and am missing the rear chassis plate and the heatsink. I can probably fabricate the rear panel, but need a heatsink. I am wondering if anyone has one?

If fuse is blown, and another blows, check P/S diodes, and caps. I've seen several SS amps with that affliction.

Re: VK100 - new quad JJ 6L6GC dont work
When Ford came out with computer control in their cars, the repair manual would list some tests, and then not fixing the problem would call to install a "known good part". The certification course I went through, the instructor emphasized that the parts department had none of them only new ones!

Re: Question about Special 130s and why not a reissue?
I picked up a Special 130 a while back, did some maintenance to it, and gave it a try. Like you I had heard a lot about them, but try as I could, I couldn't get attached to it. I ended up selling the chassis to another steel player, who had been searching for one. I personally prefer either of the B...

Re: Old Peavey Pot?
Thought I'd update, I installed some OPA2134A chips in all but the reverb socket, really like the sound. Built a cab for it, but all I had for a strong enough speaker was an Emi EM-12 style, it sounds great, but heavy!

Re: Did Reverb Driver Opamp swap
Maybe relevant, from Monte Allums site: Chip Descriptions JRC4558D – Made by Japan Radio Corporation (JRC). Used in the original TS808s and TS9s. Ibanez later changed the chip used in their pedals. The JRC4558D is actually a very inexpensive chip that’s not considered Hi-Fi and was chosen because of...
