Re: Powered Amplifier for Peavey 358-S

That mixer head that you got with them should be fine. Those speakers are only rated 150 watts RMS continuous (300 Watt "Program"), plus with their age, I wouldn't want to try to push them to their absolute max rating anyway. However, if you are just wanting a new Peavey head, any of the PVi series ...

Re: Question on wiring

In addition to long cables resulting in power loss, it also kills dampening factor of the amp (the ability of the amp to accurately control speaker cone movement). Low dampening factor means the cone is flopping around. Short and fat cables are best for speakers.

Re: Question on wiring

yes, use 4 conductor cable with speakon connectors... the A channel speakon jack on the amp has both A and B channels (A = +1-1 and B = +2-2). This will send A to one driver in the sub, and B to the other driver, resulting in an 8 ohm load per channel, so each driver will get, from the amp specs, "1...

New users aren't able to post pics until you have been a member for a while and have some number of posts. I don't know exactly what that threshold is, but would guess it's at least 10 posts and 30 days member, but might be more than that. Try again after you've posted a few more times.

Re: Connecting monitors to a peavey PV10?

It is probably ok to use a splitter at the mon send jack, but there is a possibility of electrical hum being induced by going to two powered monitors plugged into different outlets. The best option is to go straight from mon out to the first powered monitor speaker, then that speaker's "thru" jack t...

Re: 118 International Basler Inductor 705-19700

An inductor is just a coil of wire, so there's not much that could go wrong with one unless the insulation is melted or damaged in some way. There may be a problem with the Bi-Amp input jacks, as they are switching jacks (they disconnect the crossover circuits when in use). If the jacks are good, th...

Re: Connecting monitors to a peavey PV10?

The circuitry for "mon" is a pre-fader tap point, and the "efx" is a post-fader tap point, so if you plug in a powered monitor speaker the efx send jack, the volume will go up and down along with the main volume when adjusting the slider. Plugging in the powered monitor speaker to the "mon send" jac...

Re: Peavey PV1600 BI-PACK Power Amplifier

The input socket may be bad or simply have a loose connection or "cold" solder joint where it attaches to the circuit board. If you wiggle the input cable while playing music, does it try to come on at all? Can you tap firmly on the back of the amp near the plugin with a solid object and get any res...

Re: PV-1500 heat/fan/bias

It's interesting that the bias was so far off to begin with... I wonder if some component is getting out of tolerance and causing it to shift. In some circuit designs, a single biasing diode is used and positioned right next to or going through a small hole in the heat sink so that as temperature ri...

Re: Connecting monitors to a peavey PV10?

There have been a few different PV10 models over the years, which one do you have? Below are a couple links... which one is like yours or is yours different than either one? https://peavey.com/product/pv-10-bt-compact-mixer-with-bluetooth/ https://www.pitbullaudio.com/peavey-pv10-usb-10-channel-audi...

Re: PV-1500 heat/fan/bias

If you have an oscilloscope, you can put watch the main output an look for any transistor turn on/off noise with a clean sinewave input. I would keep the bias as low as possible, bring it down until you first start seeing a blip in the output, then turn it back up with a little extra margin.

Re: Amp with speakers matching HELP

In general terms, get an amp that is at least 500W but less than 1,000W for the SP2 (either @ 8 ohms per channel, or 1,000-2,000W @ 4 ohms with both speakers on one channel... then use the other channel for a sub or two). For the PR15 speakers, get an amp that is at least 200W but less than 400W. If...

Usually, new members or members with less than 15 or so posts can't post pictures yet. I don't know the exact threshold, but once you have made more posts, it should allow pics to be posted.

Re: XR1212 - No Powered Output

Try each speaker output... should have two jacks for left, and two for right when the amp mode button shows Left and Right settings. If no output, then the internal amplifiers may have failed.
