The 212 has a real headphone circuit, with a sim circuit to give you the amp's tone into headphones (or full range). The 112 was designed earlier and does not have that circuit.

The 50-ohm load was to get the XLR to sound more correct without a speaker load (50-ohms much better than nothing). It still doesn't really give you a headphone out unless you run the XLR to something that will drive headphones.
