Re: Next step to upgrade sub volume

What Bartman said..... unless you're like me. :D I would rather haul two single-driver cabinets than one dual-driver cabinet. It's just a lot easier for one guy to set up. So here is your other option: find another pair of Ul15 subs. I'm admittedly lazy and not going to look up the specs on those sp...

Re: Wireless system to eliminate speaker cables

Hello All, I researched the forums looking for an answer and didn't really find anything current. Has anyone come up with a reliable wireless system to transmit from the main outs on the mixer to the inputs of active speakers. I have seen an article about using wireless guitar systems but also saw ...

Re: Peavey 6t impulse speakers not loud enough

The "t" signifies that these have a 70v transformer built in. That's probably what is sucking your volume. If you open up the speaker you can bypass the transformer and they'll be just like the regular Impulse 6's.

Re: Peavy "AMR" MCR 4 cassette recording sustem

Reminds me of a friend who found an old "C Melody" saxophone at an auction and tried to get me to buy it. It was in poor shape and they aren't very desirable even in good shape. He pitched me, saying "But you can't get these any more." "You can't get smallpox anymore either. Doesn't make it desirabl...

Re: IPR2 5000 enough?

A general rule of thumb to avoid damaging speakers is to use and amp that is 75-80% of the rated program power of your speaker. Do the math and it looks like you're about right with the IPR5000.

Re: Peavey PR12 Help

Pretty simple: remove the horn driver and do a continuity test with an ohm meter. It'll most likely show as an open circuit, meaning it is blown. Option two: Remove the leads to the 12" speaker and set them aside, taking special care to make sure they aren't touching each other. Take the leads going...

Re: speaker comparisons

Compare these two frequency response charts as an example. One is from the Peavey QW2 and it's not bad at all. The other is from an NXL-44a costing about twice as much. Granted some of that cost is the built in power amp, but it's where the peaks and valleys are that make a huge part of the differe...

Re: speaker comparisons

In a lot of ways, you just answered your own question. Where those peaks and valleys are in the frequency response of each individual speaker make all the difference. Let's use your example spec speakers. If the -4db on the $4k speaker happens clear down at the 80hz but the rest of the speaker is fa...

The above might or might not work as the fault might not sho itself unless it's under load.

Re: speaker comparisons

There is a lot more to it than what a very few figures can show on paper. Component quality. Cabinet quality & construction. Frequency response (not range, but response). Tonal characteristics. Having upgraded from a very good QW system to another manufacturers system that cost about twice as much, ...

Re: DM115's cutting out

Are you running any sort of power conditioner? Not necessarily on the speakers, but something that monitors voltage? It's just a guess, but maybe there was something causing a low-voltage situation earlier in the day, causing the speakers to brown-out. My immediate thought is an air-conditioner draw...

Re: XR8600 Speakon Connection???

You've either got Speakon-1/4 cable that is wired weirdly or something else going on. I've quite literally sold dozens of these units and paired them to 1/4-Speakon cables and they always work.

Re: Peavey Escort 6000 PA powering 4 speakers

Do NOT daisy-chain another set of speakers. The Escort 6000 is only designed to power one set of speakers, the ones it comes with. Adding another set of speakers in a daisy-chain configuration will drop the ohm load and most likely fry the power amp of the Escort 6000. You could use the monitor outp...
