Re: Peavey Pacer EQ and other questions

Parts drifting? Unlikely.

Nothing affects the tone of an amp more than the speaker. Connect your amp to some other speaker for a listen.

Original was a smaller stamped basket speaker.

Re: Transformer 112 dead, "Pre Gain" lit up

Could be many things, but sounds more like a power supply problem to me.

First, ball up your fist and whack the top of the amp hard. Does it react at all? This exposes loose connections. And that includes things like cracked solder on voltage regulators.

Re: Troubleshooting help - more amp woes

Or perhaps a ribon connector is off a pin or even a connection broke on one.

Re: Amp power/volume vs speaker ohms

The polarity of the speaker has absolutely zero effect on amp heating. The amp has no idea what is connected, it only sees impedance. You are making the mistake of confusing power with loudness. Going from 60 watts to 30 watts only reduces loudness by 3 decibels, just enough to detect by ear. You ar...

Q9 and Q14 are the current path for that resistor, plus a shorted collector to base in Q11, 13 can assist.

Re: parts department

No idea. Over the 30+ years Iran a Peavey authorized repair shop, I always found Peavey support was far and away the best in the industry, and my shop was authorized by all the major brands, I worked with them all. They were always responsive and helpful, not only to people like me, but also to the ...

OK, I had my sharer of projects tossed into a closet.

ANyway, expand your search to include 705 part number, can't hurt.

Re: 30500045 transformer

Please verify, I found out it is used in the 5150, 6505, JSX, Triumph, and others?

When searching, also look for 70500045, Transformers used to be 7 numbers, then they changed the numbers to the 3 series. Same part.

What is wrong with yours?

Re: Original 5150 Channel-Switching Issue

When the amp changes channels, some relays shift their positions. This causes very brief changes that can result in unwanted noises. SO the amp includes a small circuit to mute the amp for JUST a moment as this all happens, preventing the potential noise from coming through.

Re: Noisy JSX Ultra Channel V2 Recommended V2 12ax7

First, just swap positions with another tube. Does the noise change? If it does the tube was the cause but if not, the tube is innocent.

Now about "lower noise" tubes. ALL tubes vary widely A Brand X low noise tube individually can be more noisy than a particular plain old Brand Y tube.

Re: Peavey amr 800 fader knobs

There are only so many slider shafts out there, can you put up a photo of a slider shaft without its knob?

I think if you search for "AMR 800 knobs" you will be disappointed, but those same knobs were used on tons of other things.

What numbers are on the speaker? Blue Marvel is just a Peavey word for speakers they didn't manufacture. EMinence made many speakers for Peavey.

The biamp jacks are not for making it a subwoofer. They are there for, well, biamping. Separate amps for woofer and tweeter.
