They used to be more common, on things like vacuum cleaners etc. but they're just switches you can stand on.

Have a goodish selection. The 6 pin DIN maybe ebay is your best bet.

I don't think a distortion analyzer, or a cap tester is necessary with a good o'scope.

For all players will talk about tubes, tubes are a tiny, tiny, part of the equation. The amp design is going to be where your sound is shaped. I use an old Crate Stealth, it's a horrible sounding amp, but I bypass it's preamp and plug another preamp into it's AUX jack (a solid state external preamp)...

The Fender badge isn't worth it, if the Foundation sounds good to you, keep it, get a refret, keep playing it.
