Peavey CL-2 Cluster 6" replacement

Good evening! My parents are in the process of moving church equipment. We use a very vintage PA at our Arizona church: a pair of CL-2 Clusters being driven by a '70s Standard PA. Dad and I both kind of have a thing for keeping vintage gear going. We did add a PV-6 mixer so we could actually use Lo-...

Re: snap crackle POP! (Impulse 200P)

thanks, Marty. I've never lost a speaker to pops, but I've heard of it happening. I'm loving the sound. Even without the subs (I don't currently have an amp to drive the subs), they sound pretty sweet. Was surprised how much weight the amp added. They're not quite as heavy as the church's old SP-2As...

Re: output volume control for recording

I use a small Sony digital recorder for recording some of my prison services. In settings, you can change the sensitivity of that input to match line level...turn the sensitivity to low and it should work better.

snap crackle POP! (Impulse 200P)

A few months ago, our former church (since closed) suffered a break-in, and my entire PA system (except my SP118X subs) was stolen. My replacement system is a Behringer MX2004A running into a pair of Peavey Impulse 200P speakers (similar to the PR12D). I bought the package used and got a great deal ...

Re: CS-800 not getting signal

Not sure if bug, or feature. I decided to pull the 800 and check everything out. In testing, I discovered that the Hi-Z (Power Amp Input) jacks work, but only if you insert the plug to the first click. Fully inserting it causes it to go dead. In any case, the system is alive, if not perfect. Sounds ...

Re: CS-800 not getting signal

All four sockets had the original jumpers in place. As I said, I wound up JUST using the M-7000 this morning. Underpowering the subs a bit, but it sounded great blasting Lecrae through before service. Going to monkey with the CS-800 after work tomorrow and see if I can get it working. The whole syst...

CS-800 not getting signal

So...I got a great deal on some gear: I bought a M-7000, a CS-800 (the heavy 4-space '70s version), a Peavey EQ-215 (the old one, not the PV version), and a 12-space Anvil case for $200. The guy demoed the stuff for me, so I knew it worked before I bought it. I took it down to the church, wired up m...

Re: Will a CS800x4 cut it?

went to a revival service tonight. Extreme Church could use that QW setup. Current setup is a pair of SP-2Gs over a pair of JBL JRX subs. The JBLs sound WEAK. The SP-2s sound pretty decent though.

Re: Will a CS800x4 cut it?

OT for this thread...I'd love to buy this and a rack of IPRs. Then I could bring in some Christian concerts for the church.

NICE looking system.

Re: Will a CS800x4 cut it?

Thanks for the input, Jackson and Josjor. All things being equal, if I could get a pair of IPRs (preferably a 1600DSP and a 3000) for about the same price as a pair of CS1200s or PV-1.3Ks, I'd definitely invest in the IPRs. (I say the DSP simply because of the adjustable xover.) I'm seriously consid...

Re: Will a CS800x4 cut it?

How adjustable is the built-in Xover on the IPRs? I've got a new-to-me DOD 2/3-way xover on the way, so that's not my main concern. I've got a lead on a guy that's got a pair of PV-1.3Ks in a roller rack, so that may be the way I go. Yeah, way heavier for certain, and I wouldn't even THINK about it ...

Re: Will a CS800x4 cut it?

I've got a meter. Process sounds simple enough. And found a lead on a couple of amps that I think will complete my system. Will report more in a few weeks.

Re: Will a CS800x4 cut it?

You are buying used. I would check them with an ohm meter to make sure that the baskets have not been changed to 4 ohms. Takes just a second to check but may save you tons of money. Can I do this with a standard digital multimeter? If so, what's the procedure? I know a bit about wiring speakers, bu...
