Hello all,

I just reciently purchased a VSX26 after I had read many good comments about the unit. I got it for a very good price so i figured I could not pass this unit up, however while I am waiting for the unit to be shipped I figured I would look at the configurator on the PC but can't seem to find the VSX Editor software anywhere on the Internet or Peavey site. Could someone please point me in the right direction. I have provided my email below.

I will be using the VSX with a pair of SP2Gs and a pair of SP218X subs.

I am using the following components.....

(2) SP2G - Powered by (1) PV1500 Amp
(2) SP218X - Powered by (2) GPS2600 Bridged
(1) Kosmos
(1) Q215 EQ

I do not see a preset for this combination. I am not running triamped. Any ideas or starting points? The system is used for DJ applications. I mainly bought the VSX for the EQ and limiter functions but plan to triamp the system in the future. Any help is appriciated.

Thanks alot,
PJ

I second your post. I've been looking all over the last few days for the VSX Editor software and have been unable to find it for download.

We decided to remove the editor from the website, as it was only a Beta version and had a few issues, such as when you actually clicked on some fields the data would change. This is frustrating.

Once again the VSX-26 and 48 products are what they are, and that is a very good value for their price and position in the market place. They do have features and benefits that the competive products do NOT have, such a Bessel filter functions, and many other options. Just look at the other filter types that are in it besides the PEQ's: Notch, Two, Two! - All Pass Filters, Horn EQ, LPF_ (-6 dB/Octave Low Pass Filter), LPF_2 (-12 dB/Oct), HPF_6, HPF_12, Low Shelf, High Shelf, and Bandpass.

The factory presets that are available give the user tremendous value added for the investment they have made in Peavey equipment.

For those who have a deeper level of experience and understanding, and may possess a dual channel FFT measurement system, you can further tighten up the performance of your system. With the capability of the VSX26/48 DSP and via of knowledgable interpretation of measurements, you can actually tweak systems beyond the factory presets, and compensate for differences in manufacturing tolerances. Manufacturing tolerances are tighter than +/- 3dB, but I'm talking about +/- 1 dB for a given acoustical space.

We have plenty of satisfied customers using the VSX-26 and VSX-48. Yes, on occasion we have seen some in the service center. What made by man doesn't have failures?

Designers and installers may want the ability to interface a PC, but many others simply do not have the skills and experience and could end up in deep water. Remember the first prime directive is; "to do no harm." Besides once a given system has been calibrated under "free field" conditions, i.e. outdoors, in the presence of a single boundry (the ground plane), those then stored presets can then be very good and useful in most indoor environments. Even then with the VSX-26 you can use the Autographing function to tweak it futher to a given acoustical space. Again if you know what your are doing.

Now for those that think that the current VSX-26/48 does not offer enough whistles and bells, we also offer the Digitool MX. For those that may be interested in a DSP that can be controlled directly via of a PC, go here:
http://aa.peavey.com/downloads/software/

Then download: Release - 07/01/2004 Download Flash and Utility program version 3.42b (2.17 Mb)
Description: Self Installing version 3.42b flash and utility program

This is the GUI for the Digitool, and I can tell you it is very powerful. It is also possible to operate or control the Digitool MX wirelessly via Bluetooth devices.

Have fun.

Hey Trippykiwi....

Thanks for trying to send the file to me. Is the file a .zip file? If not can you try ziping the file up and sending it to me or just try renaming the file extention to something like .jpg because if it is an .exe that you are trying to send my email host will not allow me to open those types.

We can "trick" the email host by renaming the file to something like VSXEditor.jpg and I can just rename it back to VSXEditor.exe when I receive it. I have also provided an additional email address for you to send it to as well if that will not work. Thanks for all your time, I really appriciate it.

Additional Email - PJ.Mohr@kennametal.com

Thanks again

Peavey should re think the removal of the vsx editor, even if it was a beta version and had some quirks. Dont get me wrong the VSX is a fine dsp but it is kind of a beta version itself. Not quite living up to what it was supposed to be, something like the DR260 or better at around the DR PA price point. I'd bet the Peavy guys were a bit dissapointed as well but decided that it is what it is and get on with it. For what I want it for, a crossover it cant be beat but it would be nice if the lights would change color if and when the limiters are getting tickeled or kick in.

Put up a poll and ask the end users if they would rather have the editor or not. It is still better working on presets on the computer where you can have a over all look at seeing what you are doing than on the small screen just seeing small peices at a time. I would guess that I am not alone in my thinking other wise people would not be trying to email the editor to each other, or the new users that thought it was there when they bought it asking where it is. Gonna save mine now on disc just in case this computer ever goes tits up.

One little tip in the editor.. right click the points to get the readings... if you left click and your not right on the spot the figures will move to where you click....
