I have a cs-800 amp from the nighties on the front it says cs-800 on the bottom tag it says cs-800x
serial#00-05539615 jcc95
What exactly is the difference between plain and the x?
Are output transistors still available? 70483180 70473180 if memory serves me
one channel is down as the fan was blocked and got hot. :(
What is the rating when bridged will these go down to 4 ohms?
Thanks William

one of the differences is the speaker load. the CS-800X can run 2 ohms per side @600 watts or 4 ohms bridged @ 1200 watts.

the plain CS-800 uses a 4 ohm per side or 8 ohm bridged.

I'm sure there are other differences for the repair people on this site.

Are you sure when the fan was blocked it took out the transistors? There is on the board where the output transisters are what is called protection tempsistors. These will go open and protect the board if it get too hot. The ones in my cs800 (s) model were 70240216. Call peavey for the one correct for your amp. When you turn the amp on and the fan goes into high speed and the channel that is bad does not come on this might be a sign of them being bad.
They are very small and have what looks like clear speaker cable covering around them. They form a loop up and back down on the board. Sometimes they crack in 2 or sometimes the small wire will break just where it is soldered to the board. If your good with electronics and have a piece of wood you could push on them and maybe they will make contact and you can find the one that is bad... Of course I would never recommend working on a powered up amp...... :D

The 800x is a work horse amp. Well worth getting fixed.

Yea thought that was what it was, been awhile since working on anything.
4oo a side will be plenty for a bass rig
The cs-800s had the problem with the cracking of those components
The fan would be on high speed with no output from the amp .
Had 2 of those when the house burned (miss them as they were lite) :(
I havnt open her up yet to check whats goin on hope its only outputs as I always had bad luck with the driver boards in these amps.
Mainly I need schematics as all my schematics had gone by the way of the fire! I know I had every schematic PV had up till around 2000
Thanks for the replies guys
William
