Hi Folks,
Hope that someone can help me out.
I have a Walnut Claro USA Cirrus 5er. All hardware is golden, which I really dislike. Even though stock tuners do work, I found myself having to constantly re-tune the bass from day to day while my other basses don't need to.
I want to replace the stock ones with Hipshot's Ultralites, but I wonder which of the two sizes sold in the market is the right one: 1/2" or 3/4" shaft.
Did a search and found a post asking this very same question but it was not answered, at least not openly to the public.
I've written a mail to customer support but no reply yet.

Accurate info will be highly appreciated!!
Thanks in advance

Regards

I don't know the size of the shaft, but if your bass is going out of tune it is most likely not the tuners. Check to see if they are loose, and that the strings are wound properly.
You should be able to get replacements directly from Peavey if you want to replace them.

Thanks for your reply Mark.
The tuners are actually loose but not because they are not properly screwed. The shaft seems like not filling the gap enough, like they're not wide enough (diameter). I have an Ibanez BTB with the same tuners size wise, and are much more tight. I've tried them in my Peavey and the do feel more compact and keep tuned longer (they haven't got out of tune so far).
I've been playing for 20 years now so I know how to wound strings properly
Anyway as I told you, I'm changing them because I hate golden hardware as well.

I researched quite a bit and found out that Hipshot's UL HB6Y 3/8" are the right replacement.

About ordering them from Peavey...
No answer to any of my question came back from them, including if they sell these replacements.
I don't think I'll buy anything from them.

Regards
