Hi,

How do you record music to a computer with a Peavey Blazer 158? Because when I tried the Phone jack, it doesn't work.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

What did you plug into the phones jack? The phones jack is a "stereo" jack - also known as a TRS jack for Tip-Ring-Sleeve. If you plug a plain old guitar cord in there, the ring contact will ground out and kill the sound.

One thing you can try is to plug a cord into the jack half way. You know how there is a sort of click part way in? Plug in just that far and see if sound results.

Hi Enzo,

Thanks for taking the time to help. I only use a normal guitar patch cable to connect from the phones jack to the computer sound card. I tried the same thing with a friend's Fender Frontman 15W amp and it works fine. Does this mean that the phones jack on my amp is busted?

Thanks again for your help.

P.S. I tried plugging in half way like you suggested but there's still no sound.

I don;t know if it is broken. Do headphones work in the phones jack?

No, using a headphone doesn't work either. Both the main input and the CD/Tape input work fine, though.

Do you know if this problem can be fixed or do I have to buy another amp for recording?

Thanks.

Well, if the headphones jack won;t power headphones and won't send a signal out, then something is wrong there. COUld be the jack itself or maybe the resistor is open in the circuit.

Yes, the amp can be fixed, should not be a challenge for any competent technician.

Alright. Hopefully it doesn't cost too much to fix because the amp is not worth a whole lot nowadays anyway.

Thanks again for your help, Enzo.
