Have owned a bunch of valve amps, including a classic 30, but my new delta blues is blowing me away. Love that Peavey have now put in a valve cage with foam valve stabilizer. AND it came with JJ's stock. Anyway, there's a tone of 12" speaker mod options available but I was hoping someone could suggest a 15" 16ohm alternative as a speaker upgrade. Not to knock the Blue Marvel - they're a great all round work horse. Cheers, Bonesy

I was curious about the same thing. I was looking at the Eminence Big Ben. Seemed like a good speaker with good reviews at the right price.

I then called Eminence to talk to someone about my planned upgrade, and I spoke to a very nice lady on the phone. I gave her the serial number of my existing Peavey Blue Marvel 15" and she put me on hold to look it up. When she came back, she told me not to bother with the upgrade, because the Peavey Blue Marvel 15" and the Big Ben are the SAME SPEAKER, just with different badging.

I was pretty amazed, but in the process, Eminence earned a loyal customer. I didn't buy the Big Ben, but I've bought lots of other speakers from them since.

If you're not happy with the 15" that's in there, what are you wanting it to do? Maybe you just don't like 15" inch speakers?

Should be interesting to see how many reviews say "I bought a Big Ben & it blows the Blue Marvels away!"

Eminence website says "Ideal for Delta Blues" - Didn't think it meant the amp!

Don't get me wrong, I love the tones and frequencies that the classic 30 circuit produces through the 15" speaker. That's what sold me on this amp. I only asked the question because there were so many posts suggesting that the classic 30 really shines once you up grade the speaker. If this is true, then an upgrade for the delta blues could take it from sounding great to fuckin' awesome. Or maybe I should just leave well enough alone. I'm simply curious. That's pretty funny about the Eminence Big Ben though.
